WATER QUALITY AND SANITATION
erasing waterborne diseases and creating a safer consumption of water.

Introduction

Vox news released an article a few years ago detailing the number one reason people die early in each country. All of these problems are issues researchers are combatting right now, like the leading issues revolving heart disease or HIV/AIDS. However, it is baffling why the leading mortality issue in areas like South Asia and the Central African Republic is diarrhea. It is one of the biggest child mortality issues. In many areas of the continent, access to water, food and sanitation is such a prevalent issue that it’s almost impossible to imagine from our homes

Rotavirus

Diarrheal diseases like the rotavirus is the primary cause for almost thirty-percent of morbid diarrheal cases in which the replication of germs in differentiated epithelial cells, ultimately leads to cell death. In order to maximize the number of vaccines to combat diseases like the rotavirus, I believe that the method of implementing transdermal microneedle patches where the active ingredients of the vaccine use an inactivated virus to provide vaccines in this form that can be widely deployed. Along with water sanitation methods like using chemical disinfectors like iodide and lugol's solutions can be used to chemically disinfect water in developing countries in Africa. Diarrheal diseases fall into water-related diseases; and I believe that we can use simple water sanitation and effective and widespread use of transcutaneous vaccines that are more effective and affordable than methods like oral immunization. These methods are easier to administer and have a higher efficacy rate if combined and can be the method that saves thousands of young lives across the world.
